"Kumon study is the best thing I have ever done for my child Rohan. ...learning Kumon over the last 3 years Rohan has been able to think faster and has become more confident in general and progressed very well in maths."

Meet the students

John Lewis

At 10 years old, Finchley East student John Lewis is the youngest English Kumon programme completer in the UK. He received his award at a High Level Student Award ceremony held at Westminster in November 2010. Here's what he said about how Kumon has helped him.

"I started the English programme in year 2. My Instructor helped me throughout my Kumon years offering lots of encouragement and recognising my achievements; she knew what she needed to say to keep me motivated especially when I had had enough of Kumon and wanted to stop. The initial levels helped me with improving my English, especially the construction of good sentences and correct paragraph use."

Anisa

Anisa has been practicing her times table for level C on the Kumon programme. She said: "When we had a school challenge, I was given a certificate in assembly because I had done so well."

Her mum said they had tried other programmes but Anisa always remembered what she had done in her Kumon work. "

Parent testimonial

"My daughter spent four years attending Kumon at East Finchley. Other mums would ask how I got her to do her Kumon every day and I would reply in the same way I get her to brush her teeth! I am so glad we persisted with Kumon as it laid down such solid foundations for her maths. As a trained primary teacher myself, I really believe in 5 or 10 minutes a day of work which is the most effective way for children to master concepts. To our delight Amy recently excelled in her 11 plus and gained an academic scholarship. I really believe her Kumon studies contributed greatly to this success and have given her confidence which she will carry through her school career." Mrs.H.GD
