Meet the Instructor

Hello my name is Justine Johnson I became the Instructor at the Garforth Kumon Education Centre in 2007. I am a qualified and experienced Primary and F.E. teacher, I have worked in the education and training sector for over 19 years. My aim as a Kumon instructor is to help children with their learning so that they can become independent and confident learners. I spend time with each student in my class so that they have the best possible learning experience.

I do want to stress the fact that Kumon is a long-term study programme nurturing the overall development of the child. It can work for your child if he/she is struggling in school where I will take them back to an easy starting point. A point where they are comfortable and confident and then work together step by step, tackling each topic as it comes without putting any pressure on the child. Most students who enrol on Kumon are often working above their school levels (even those once struggling) after a few years on the programme.

Conversely, Kumon is also beneficial for your child if she/he would shine by being introduced to work that is more challenging than that being done in school. If your child is bright and keen to study, then I can guide them through the programmes, helping them complete topics at the Kumon centre before even studying them in school. I feel that the partnership and understanding I have with the students and their parents, and doing a little bit of work every day can have a remarkable impact on a child's development and confidence.
