The centre was established in 2007 and provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. Most of the students attend schools within the area and live in the local community, with some travelling from further afield to study at the centre.
The centre is situated in the large hall of the Hinckley Methodist Church which is easily located in Hinckley with parking available either in the local car parks close by or on the road outside. There is a parent's waiting area for you to wait whilst your child is in class.
There are currently over 70 students studying maths and/or English, with the longest standing students now in their fifth year of study. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Students currently range from pre-school to high school age and beyond. To assist the fully qualified Instructor with the smooth running of the class, there are three fully trained assistants and two markers in the centre to help with the needs of the students.
Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
