"Kumon is not always fun because it is challenging, but it is always successful provided parent, Instructor and student work in partnership."
Marie Gibb, Correspondence Instructor

About the centre

When students arrive at the centre, students swap their completed homework for the new homework and collect their class work for that day. English students do oral reading before they start their written work every time they attend the centre.

Students will typically be in class for 20-30 minutes per subject. During this time, parents and siblings are welcome to wait in the waiting area. Whilst the student is completing their class work, their homework is being checked and recorded by the centre's team of assistants. Along with me, the team are on hand to provide guidance where necessary.

Once the student has completed their class work, they hand it in to be marked. There are various supplementary activities for maths students including number boards, number bond work and mental arithmetic.

Before leaving the class students are given feedback on their current work and plenty of encouragement. As motivational tools there is a sticker system including 100% stickers and twice a year there is an Advanced Student Roll (ASR) ceremony where student's achievements are celebrated. Seeing the achievements of fellow students is a great motivator.
