"Kumon is not always fun because it is challenging, but it is always successful provided parent, Instructor and student work in partnership."
About the Centre
The Lenzie Kumon study centre has been running for over 15 years and I have been a Kumon Instructor there for 7 years. Since then I am proud to say we have had five programme completers and have several students who are currently working with the higher levels of the maths and English programme and who are also aiming to complete the programme.
The centre welcomes children of all ages and abilities, our youngest student being aged four. All students are instructed individually and are given work which is appropriate to their needs and abilities. We aim to enable children to work above school level in maths and English within their first year of Kumon study, developing independence and self-learning skills along the way. There are also regular awards and prizes for achievements in class and a Kumon awards ceremony is held every year. Many children have been coming to the Lenzie Study Centre for many years, benefiting from long-term development and helping them realise their true potential.
Starting at Kumon
Before the children arrive at the centre an enrolment meeting is arranged. This is an opportunity for parents and students to discover the finer details of the Kumon programme, peruse materials and ask questions. At the enrolment the child is also assessed by way of a small test and observation in order to establish an easy starting point for them. This start point is an important feature of the Kumon method ensuring they are developing strong foundations from the start. An enrolment can be arranged anytime including evenings.
Daily study
The Kumon programme is a daily study programme: work is provided for children to complete each day of the week at home with students also attending class twice a week. This is key to ensure the student builds good study habits, discipline and building confidence with their work. Please note that the classes are drop in sessions with students arriving at different times between the open hours. In certain circumstances work by correspondence can also be arranged.
Communication
Communication between parents and myself is encouraged. This can be done by phone, email or appointment and there is no restriction when parents can phone me. Feedback is also given to students at class and this is a key time to discuss goals, targets and work for the week ahead.
Holidays
The centre is open during most holidays and if the centre is closed when I am on holiday then work is provided for the student to cover this period.
If you would like to arrange an enrolment or require further information then please do get in touch. I look forward to hearing from you!
