"I believe Kumon is the reason why my maths has improved, and without it I wouldn't have achieved an A in my GCSE maths and wouldn't have even attempted A-level!"

Students hand in their homework and collect new work for each day until their next visit. One piece of work is then completed independently in class. After the work has been marked by an Assistant, the student independently corrects any errors.
English students read out loud to an Assistant before they complete their work in class. Maths students are also invited to take part in supplementary activities, such as numberboards, times tables practice and mental arithmetic checks with one of our trained assistants.
Students then speak to the Instructor to receive feedback and praise for their work, to discuss their progress through the Kumon programme, and also to set future short-term and long-term goals.
Stickers are awarded for each completed day's work and are collected at each class. These stickers can then be traded in the prize shop which is open during the first week of every month.
Certificates are awarded to students when they pass the Achievement Test at the end of each level.
Mastery through practiceWe all know that practise makes perfect and that in order to succeed, we must try, try, then try again. By practising and mastering each subject before moving onto the next, the programme allows students to work at their own pace, and remain studying at the 'just right level'. This also ensures that a student will only spend the expected and manageable amount of time on their Kumon work each day.
The Kumon programme provides students with much more than just maths and English tuition; it promotes confidence, concentration and independent learning skills, all of which will help with all other areas of learning also. |
