The centre provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and a wide range of abilities. It has been open since 1996 and is located at the Holy Trinity Church Centre, which is a friendly venue with good parking and waiting facilities. Students study in the main hall which is adjacent to the room used as a waiting area.
Over 100 children between the ages of four and 18 years old are currently enrolled at the centre. Students in Year 5 and below should be escorted into the small hall by a responsible adult who must stay in the waiting area until the student is ready to leave class.
The Instructor Maggie Stanger is assisted in class by a team of classroom assistants. New students work on tables of three with one assistant. They are supported to help them develop good study habits and they move to the main work area when they display the necessary confidence and abilities. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.
