"Kumon is not always fun because it is challenging, but it is always successful provided parent, Instructor and student work in partnership."

About the centre

The requested study centre page does not exist!

Class time is when I get to observe the students working and understand their individual needs so that I can give them new work that is just right for their level of ability.

Initially they will receive one to one with an assistant to develop good study skills such as focus, pace, good posture, how to read instructions carefully and follow examples thoroughly as well as getting them used to the class routine and helping them change over work. We aim to build strong study skills so that the student has the right skills to work ultimately beyond school level, to do this they need to be an independent learner with the correct skills in place.

Upon arrival your child will collect their class folder, which contains the day's class work, plus work for every day at home until the next class. English students then read before they start their written work. All work is timed and then marked, any corrections are completed and worked through so that the student is able to work independently at home.

The main reason for the student to be at class is observation, students will always be moved onto new topics in class and observed and encouraged to use good study skills. How your child approaches their work as well as their results tells me a lot about the student and enables me to set the work for them at 'just the right level' in order for them to keep making progress. Each child is praised and rewarded for having a 'breakthrough' moment, praise for progress and improvement is an important part of Kumon study.

Typically your child will be in the centre for approximately 30-40 minutes per subject before leaving with enough homework to last them until the next class visit.
