Kareen Lawrence

Franchise Recruitment Manager

Hi, My name is Kareen Lawrence and my employment background before Kumon stemmed from recruitment.

I have worked in a specialist role and have also been a Business Development Consultant in the Welfare to Work industry.Part of my role was to bring in new business, build relationships with third parties, interview job seekers and to provide training opportunities.

Both industries have contributed to where I am today, especially in taking the decision I made to apply for the Franchise Recruitment Manager position.

After working for three years in the Welfare to Work industry, I was seeking a new opportunity, where I could still have a positive impact on the lives of others. Kumon's mission matched this and I felt this would be a perfect opportunity to be a part of everything that Kumon has achieved so far.

Since becoming a Franchise Recruitment Manager, in July 2011, I have been involved in a number of different projects, one of which was our Franchise Recruitment Weekend, helping to recruit new instructors and to increase brand awareness. This helped me to gain a better understanding of the application process, early on, and the types of applicants that show an interest in Kumon.

During my training I visited study centres across the UK and observed students studying our unique programmes first hand. All of my training helped me to understand our method of learning and the part that my role plays in Kumon achieving their goals.

Each day as a Franchise Recruitment Manager is different, as one day I could be presenting at one of our information session, attending a franchise event, vetting applicants or interviewing potential instructors, all of which has an impact on our mission and vision.
