Hi, I’m Ricky and I am 13 years old. I started Kumon when I was six, which was also the age my brother started. I have since been studying the Kumon Maths Programme for seven years, which has taught me many useful theorems and has also improved my mental arithmetic greatly. Currently I am studying arithmetic and geometric sequences. I also enrolled on the Kumon English Programme in Year 5, which I have recently completed after three years and five months of daily study.
Kumon has greatly improved my maths and English and I am doing well in both subjects at school. It has also helped outside of school for activities such as reading, writing and maths, whether it is homework or other maths challenges.
Kumon has helped me become a higher achieving student than most others in my school year, elevating me to the top sets of each subject. It has also improved my confidence and attitude to learning, so that I participate actively in lessons and enjoy learning.
The maths programme has also helped me to be more interested in other realms of maths such as geometry and number theory, which my dad and brother taught me. Also, as a result of the Kumon English Programme I have become interested in other genres of literature, such as Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Brave New World by Aldous Huxley.
In the future I hope to become a programmer of some sort, and also perhaps a psychologist. Kumon would help me in this as it would give me a good grounding for making the algorithms for use in coding, and would also help to make informative experiments in psychology.
