"It is highly rewarding to be a part of young people's success and to hear reports from school of how they are advancing and often outperforming their peers."
Ananya Karthikeyan from Warrington is three years old and started studying Kumon maths and English in August 2008. Ananya's mother Niru first heard about Kumon last summer when she read about a two-week free trial that was on offer. She signed up Ananya to see if she would like it.
Ananya's mother Niru said:
"When we tried out Kumon, Ananya was so excited to do the worksheets and seemed to really enjoy doing them. She would bring them over to me and ask if we could do them together again and again."
When Ananya first started Kumon study she could only identify a few numbers and a few letters of the alphabet. Now, she knows the entire alphabet and many numbers and she can even read short words and simple sentences. Her concentration levels have hugely improved and her confidence levels are now sky high.
Niru went on to say:
"Ananya wants to give everything a try and do as much Kumon study as she can. She has always been a happy bubbly character but she now has increased confidence levels and is very happy to work alone and independently, and this is all as a result of studying Kumon. I had a baby boy when Ananya started Kumon and wasn't sure I would find the time to help and support Ananya with her Kumon, but it is something special that we really enjoy doing together, and it also provides extra stimulation for her. My baby boy will be one this year and I want to sign him up to Kumon as soon as possible."
Ananya's Kumon Instructor Anne Gannon said:
"Ananya's mother was very keen to understand from the outset exactly the support required for Ananya at home and this has contributed greatly to her success. Niru is very involved and keen to make Kumon really work for her child. We have also been very flexible as you have to recognise that a three year old has a certain concentration span which we need to work within, changing the focus and trying different approaches when necessary. Ananya is very independent in class and knows exactly what to do. She has made huge progress in such a short time and I have no doubt that she will be reading fluently when she starts school and that will put her way ahead of her class mates".
