Kumon set to make a difference in Wales

It has recently been reported that pupils in some Welsh primary schools are not challenged enough in the subject of mathematics in order to reach their full potential. The report conducted by Inspectors from Estyn found that although standards are improving in the subject overall, schools sometimes fall short of what is required to bring out the best in three to seven-year-olds.

Parents in Wales are now seeking other ways to ensure their children excel in maths and receive the encouragement to fulfil their potential. This is why many have turned to the Kumon maths study programme. Kumon is one of the leading after-school education providers in the country offering both maths and English programmes for children of all ages and abilities.

Kumon offers an individualised maths programme that is tailored to the needs of each child. This means that Kumon can offer a one stop solution for children who are struggling, and also those who need to be challenged.

Kumon parent, Mrs Kumar from Cardiff said:
"My son Pranav is almost five years old and has been studying Kumon maths for six months now. I initially enrolled Pranav in Kumon as I wanted to ensure that he was being challenged with his maths. Once he started the programme I could see that it provided him with the extra push he needed to do better. Kumon is now giving Pranav the chance to reach his full potential but at the right pace for him. He really enjoys doing his Kumon study and especially loves the rewards that come with completing his work, and as a parent I'm so relieved to have found Kumon because it really works."

Kumon is a daily worksheet based study programme which not only helps to improve maths and English but also provides the tools to develop life skills such as; perseverance, determination and independent learning techniques. There are over 15 Kumon Study Centres across Wales. Due to an increase in demand more centres are currently in development and Kumon are always looking for people who are passionate about education and may be interested in setting up a Kumon centre in their area.
