About this centre

The Kumon Basingstoke South Study Centre opened in 2014.

Following a free assessment, students will start studying the programmes at a point that is specific to their needs and ability.

The current age range of students at the centre is four to 14 years old. However, the centre welcomes children of all ages and abilities, whether they require further support to succeed academically or are seeking an additional challenge so they can fulfil their potential. The younger students work on an early learning table, where dedicated assistants work alongside them.

South Basingstoke Kumon Centre has a team of highly trained assistants. Together, we work towards maintaining an efficient and effective learning environment, support the students' development academically and help build confidence and self-learning skills. The team includes bright, committed students and graduates, all have enhanced DBS certification and some of our staff are previous Kumon students.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

My name is Joanna Miles and I am delighted to be the Instructor at the Basingstoke South Study Centre.

I have twenty years’ experience of teaching all ages of children from Foundation Stage to year six, although predominantly in Key Stage one.

My aim is to develop the full potential of your child and their achievements will be continually celebrated. Guidance, direction, support and encouragement will be given to enable them to progress through the Kumon programmes.

The first time I heard about Kumon was through a child with learning difficulties in my class. He was having trouble accessing the school curriculum and had very low self-esteem. He began the Kumon Maths Programme and it seemed that in no time, all his confidence was significantly improved, and he was much more forthcoming answering questions in class. Over time, his mental maths calculation skills improved, together with his overall ability. He is now one of several children I have taught who have embarked on the Kumon programmes.

I strongly believe that Kumon can fulfil the potential of any child, whatever their ability.

I look forward to welcoming your child to the start of their Kumon journey and unlocking that full potential.
