About this centre

The Kumon Billericay Study Centre has been flourishing since 1995 at Christ Church Hall, Perry Street. The unique Kumon programmes pursue the potential of each child, developing their ability and nurturing their independence.

We proudly provide individualised learning programmes in both English and Mathematics for children of all ages and abilities. Although most of our students typically start Kumon in year 1 and 2, sometimes earlier, we also currently support and develop students’ full potential in year 8, 9 and 10 preparing for their GCSEs.

The study centre has four dedicated class assistants to ensure quick feedback, so that each and every student is able to make maximum progress when they attend our centre. Whilst work is being marked, there is a wide selection of fiction and non-fiction books of all levels from the Kumon Recommended Reading List for students to appreciate.

Students must then do all their corrections so that they leave with that 100% achievement feeling every time they finish their study session at Billericay.

I have 19 years experience in teaching. I have taught in both the private and public sectors, mainly English language and English literature up to GCSE, although I also taught mathematics in the private sector as well as Spanish.

One of my proudest moments in my teaching career was when I was nominated by my students and fellow teachers for the Pearson National Teaching Awards for Teacher of the Year (Secondary School) where I was shortlisted to the final 12 in 2014. As a teacher, I always put myself in the students shoes and see how I can guide them meticulously to the next step without telling them the solution, but showing and encouraging them how to work it out for themselves, so that they are well-equipped to face any subsequent difficulties with strength.

What attracted me to become a Kumon Instructor is that I was really impressed with the structure of the Kumon worksheets and how they encourage students to progress independently with little steps. I truly enjoy guiding students to those ‘light bulb’ moments as much as possible and strive to ensure that my students enjoy their experience at the Kumon Study Centre Billericay.
