The centre provides maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities. Many of the students attend schools within the area and live in the local community.
At present, students at the centre range from preschoolers to sixth formers. The youngest student is currently three years old and is studying both programmes. The oldest student is 15 years old and has been with Kumon for six years.
The study centre is located in a church hall which is light, spacious and warm. There is a parents waiting area situated adjacent to the study area where parents can wait and chat quietly to other Kumon parents while their child is in class.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
The Bingley Study Centre is fast becoming an essential part of the community as more and more families experience positive results of just a small amount of study each day.
Hi, my name is Nadia Sultana and I am the Instructor at the Bingley Study Centre.
My first encounter with Kumon was when I enrolled my son onto the maths programme to develop his confidence. He now has a real affinity with the subject and is achieving great results. I was so impressed that when the Bingley Study Centre became available I decided to train as an Instructor to take it over, and I am very pleased I did. Since opening the centre, I have seen many children make fantastic progress, growing in confidence to become self-motivated, independent learners and I have loved every minute.
I believe students have a great potential to be strong academically, as well as in their personal lives. Kumon gives students the opportunity to develop their maths and/or English by providing a little bit of work each day. Through this little-but-often approach, students strengthen their academic skills but also develop strong study skills that will follow them into their older years.
If students know what they need to achieve and why, they always respond well. I also make sure that parents are kept informed about their children's' progress and strengths, as well as any areas that need to be developed so they can help them move forward.
