About this centre

Welcome to the Kumon Broadstairs Study Centre, which offers maths and English programmes to children of all ages and abilities. Our students come from pre-schools, state and independent schools across Thanet including Broadstairs, Ramsgate, Margate, Birchington-on-Sea, Westgate-on-Sea, Ash, Deal and surrounding villages.

Similar to other tuition providers, the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go further by developing children’s independent study skills and confidence. This has helped many of our students to perform well in their 11+ and entrance exams, and been essential for GCSE, A-level, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.

In addition to studying an appropriate amount of work at home on a daily basis, your child can attend the study centre up to twice a week. Experienced staff support every student, from early learning to guidance on more advanced topics. Your child’s free assessment will help to determine an appropriate starting point and initial study plan. Progress through the programmes is tailored to the individual, ensuring each student continues to grow and achieve.

I’ve been a Kumon Instructor since 2007, helping over 400 students to develop their maths, English and study skills.

Having experienced the progress that students make, I particularly like the way that Kumon provides individualised study. This differentiation allows students to cover each topic effectively, mastering it before moving to the next level.

My reward is seeing students complete work at a higher level than their peers, and watching their confidence grow as they become independent, mature, learners. As a parent, I understand what's involved at home as well.

I discovered Kumon when my daughter needed help. At the time, my work involved developing national schemes to improve accessibility to learning, so I was particularly interested in Kumon’s individualised approach. As I am also a qualified teacher, specialising in English as a second language, and with experience of dyslexia, it was somehow inevitable that I became a Kumon Instructor.

I can't deny that Kumon study requires effort and commitment but it works. Giving a child a good education is vital to give children access to the opportunities and choices that will enable them to live a successful life.
