The centre was established in 2003 and has become an integral part of the local community. We provide maths and English programmes for students of all ages and abilities, and have contributed to helping over 750 local children achieve their potential.

Students can attend the centre up to twice a week on a drop-in basis with classes lasting between 30 - 40 minutes per subject. Parents are welcome to wait during this time.

At present, approximately half of the students in the centre are studying above their school level. Current students are aged between five and 16 years old and a number of them have been attending the centre for a couple of years. The majority of students at the centre live locally and attend schools in the area including Colindale, Hendon, Kingsbury, Queensbury, Burnt Oak, West Hendon, Brent Cross and other neighbouring localities.

Students’ development is supported by our dedicated team of nine trained class assistants who speak various languages including: English, German, Arabic, Somali, Chinese, Punjabi, French and Swahili.

Similar to other tuition providers the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for school, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.

My name is Adekunbi Adubifa and I am the Instructor at the Colindale Study Centre.

Having been a personal tutor to students from KS2 to A-level for over 12 years, I understand the pressures and demands of good quality education by parents. This is reflected in the fact that all my students by GCSE were all A* students in the subjects I taught them. I have a real passion for developing children and gain great satisfaction in seeing them grow in self-confidence, academic stature and ability– this is the greatest aspect and fulfilment of my role as an Instructor.

My role is to observe the students work as well as feedback to them on their work on their journey to become independent, self-learners. Outside of class, I set each students’ work individually, customising it according to my observations in class and the students need and ability.

I'm a big advocate of the 'Instructor-Parent-Student' relationship and ensure I provide as much support as required to parents on how to encourage their child to adopt good study habits as well as keep you involved and informed of your child's progress.

I am always available to speak to parents outside of class time to discuss your child's Kumon study.
