The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes offer what traditional tuition gives to your child and more. Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher. Our aim is to help any child of any ability to progress and develop a curiosity and love for learning.
Your local Instructor will set work for your child at just the right level, enabling them to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills in small, manageable steps through daily study. They will visit their local study centre up to twice a week for sessions with their Instructor. This allows the Instructor to tailor and adapt each child’s study plan to their abilities, through observing their progress and fluency at each level. Our study programmes are individualised to each child to help them establish strong learning foundations and a positive learning experience, to build skills and confidence for their future.
Like many other Instructors, I came across Kumon through my own children. My son was struggling with his maths and so I felt he needed extra support to strengthen his understanding. I enrolled him and my daughter into our local Kumon centre and fairly quickly saw a big improvement in them both academically and personally. I was so impressed with the results that I decided to train as an Instructor and I am very pleased I did so.
I have now been an Instructor for 18 years and I offer the experience of both an Instructor and a parent. I started off small and I now run a thriving centre. One of my strengths is that I am a good communicator. I believe that if students know what they need to achieve and why, they always respond well.
I also make sure that parents are always kept informed about their children's progress and strengths, as well as any areas that need to be developed, so they can help them move forward. I find working as a Kumon Instructor very rewarding, especially when a child discovers that maths is not so hard after all or they actually enjoy reading because they can do it easily.
