About this centre

The Kumon Frimley Study Centre offers maths and English programmes to children of all ages and abilities.

Our study centre welcomes students from Ravenscote, nearby Tomlinscote, and all other schools in the local area. Many students have been enrolled with us for several years and are a testament to how much their daily Kumon practice supports their academic progress.

Alongside the Instructor, there are several assistants who help at the centre with marking, recording homework, general guidance and class routine. We have a dedicated early learner area, where our youngest students receive one-to-one supervision with an assistant until they have reached the stage where they can work more independently.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.

My name is Anjana Sohal and I have been an Instructor since February 2015. I set up and established my first Kumon study centre in Essex before deciding to relocate to Surrey to take over the Frimley study centre.

It was my knowledge and experience in the education sector which motivated me to begin my journey with Kumon. Having worked with children with special educational needs in schools was a challenging yet rewarding experience, but it gave me an insight into the importance of individualisation. Each child is given their own starting point in the programme and they develop at their own pace with the right tailored instruction.

Seeing the smiles on children’s faces when they have tackled a difficult question independently; or when they achieve one hundred percent in their classwork is what motivates me every day.

I want to ensure that each student at the Kumon Frimley Study Centre is valued and supported to enable them to reach their potential. As well as tailored instruction, I hold regular progress meetings to discuss each student’s past, present and future progress and goals. It is important that we continue to work together to ensure your child is getting the appropriate support and develop a positive attitude towards studying.
