The Kumon Livingston Study Centre is based in the Lanthorn community centre in central Livingston. The Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child, developing their ability, confidence and nurturing their independence.
Our dedicated team of staff welcome students of all ages and abilities from Livingston and surrounding areas. Students attend the centre for approximately 20-30 minutes per subject once or twice a week, and your class day/arrival time will be arranged at your initial assessment meeting.
The centre fosters a positive, encouraging atmosphere, and focuses on developing excellent study skills as an integral part of the Kumon programmes. The centre also has a great deal of experience of working with pre-school children.
Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.
Following a free assessment your child will begin on the programmes at an individually set starting point, laying a solid foundation for effective learning. Their progress through the programmes will be tailored to their individual needs, ensuring your child continues to grow and achieve.
My name is Ella Ritchie and I have been running the Kumon Livingston Study Centre since 2009. I have an MA degree in maths and English from the University of Glasgow, and worked as an accountant.
I’m proud to be an Elite Kumon Instructor, based on the high quality of instruction and student progress at my centre. I have presented at Kumon conferences to fellow Kumon Instructors from around the world.
I strongly believe in individualised learning, and place a great deal of importance on developing strong study skills. I’m fortunate to be able to work with students of all abilities to help them to achieve their full potential.
Every year we recognise the achievements of all students studying at the Livingston centre at our Annual Awards Ceremony. This is always an inspirational and enjoyable event, as we reflect on the hard work and achievements of our students throughout the past year.
I like to keep in regular contact with parents/carers to keep them informed of their child’s progress. Formal progress meetings take place before the summer holidays, and parents/carers are always welcome to contact me at any time outside of class by email or telephone to discuss their child’s progress.
