The study centre was established in 2012 and has since then helped many students to pursue their potential and develop their ability.

The youngest child at the centre is currently three years old and the oldest is 17 years old, however the study centre welcomes children of all ages and abilities. Over half of the students at the centre study both maths and the English programmes with the rest studying one of the programmes.

The centre has a team of eight well trained assistants on hand to support the students’ development, and each assistant is designated to a table during class.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.

The centre has a range of books that students can read to complement their worksheet study. Observations of students are taken regularly to enhance support of them.

Did you know, you can now study Kumon using digital worksheets? This study centre is proud to offer KUMON CONNECT. Click here to find out more.

As an Ofsted registered centre, parents can make considerable savings through various schemes.

About the Instructor

Luton Leagrave - Abi Kukoyi

My name is Abisola Kukoyi (Abi) and I am the Instructor at the Luton, Leagrave Study Centre.

I was attracted to Kumon when I noticed how good my son's cousin was doing in school. When I heard that Kumon was behind his success, I immediately enrolled my son at our local Kumon study centre. I was highly impressed with the Kumon Method of Learning and the positive attitude it instils. My son's maths and English had improved greatly with his confidence and ability to tackle problems.

My greatest joy is seeing my students progressing through the levels within the programme. I believe that being a Kumon parent before becoming an Instructor means I have an understanding of the importance and the benefits of the programmes from a parental view as well as an instructional view. This helps me to emphasise with parents and help them to understand the programmes.

Having seen the impact Kumon has made on my students which I have observed over the years – including my own son - there is no doubt of the huge positive effects the Kumon Method has had on my students. As an Instructor, I can make a huge positive impact by helping other children in reaching their potential.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
