About this centre

The Lytham St. Annes Study Centre adheres to all Kumon’s best practice procedures. The unique Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes pursue the potential of each child, developing their ability and nurturing their independence.

All students at the centre are given individual attention, understand their goals and work at the correct pace and level for their needs. In doing this, it is our aim to help develop every child’s self-confidence and skills which they will carry throughout their careers and life.

We have a number board table where younger students can challenge themselves to complete the number board activity as quickly as they can to further develop their number skills.

Kumon’s long-term focus provides children with the self-assurance to take their learning into their own hands, increasing their motivation to succeed.

My name is Paula Hilton and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Lytham St. Annes Study Centre. I have an honours degree in Applied Physics and a PGCE in secondary school mathematics.

Before becoming an Instructor, I spent several years as the head of a calibration laboratory for a research and development company within the automotive test industry. After taking some time out to start a family, I undertook a teacher training course and went on to teach maths in secondary schools.

I am passionate about education. In the fast changing, rapidly developing world we work and live in, it is more obvious than ever that our children’s education is paramount to their future success. This is what has attracted me to Kumon.

As well as being a Kumon Instructor, I am also a Kumon parent. My own children follow the maths and English programmes and I have seen first-hand the impact on their self-esteem, allowing them to establish a growth mind set with a ‘can do’ attitude.
