The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes offer what traditional tuition gives to your child and more. Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher. Our aim is to help any child of any ability to progress and develop a curiosity and love for learning.

Your local Instructor will set work for your child at just the right level, enabling them to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills in small, manageable steps through daily study. They will visit their local study centre twice a week for sessions with their Instructor. This allows the Instructor to tailor and adapt each child’s study plan to their abilities, through observing their progress and fluency at each level. Our study programmes are individualised to each child to help them establish strong learning foundations and a positive learning experience, to build skills and confidence for their future.

Hello, my name is Misbah Sheikh and I have lived and worked in Merton since 1999. I am a mother of three, so I can understand a parent’s desire to get the best out of the education system and, as a parent, I chose Kumon to help my children.

I have been a Kumon parent for 11 years and I have seen how it has helped my children do well in their school SAT exams, stay in the top sets and pass their grammar school exams.

I have also worked in the education sector for 11 years, with the majority of my time in a local community primary school. I took over the Kumon Merton Park Study Centre in 2012 but my association with this centre has been for considerably longer. I was introduced to Merton Park in 2003 when my daughter started her classes there. As a parent, I was encouraged by the previous Instructor to become a senior classroom assistant, which is how I started my Kumon journey several years ago.

Becoming an Instructor has been the best professional decision of my life. I have a real mix of amazing children at the centre and I get a huge amount of satisfaction from seeing them developing with my input. I really enjoy every day with my students.
