About this centre

Opening in 2000, the Kumon Northfields Study Centre is well established in the Borough of Ealing. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

The Northfields Study Centre caters for students of all ages and abilities, and each individual child receives tailored support. Current students range in age from three to 18 years old, with many currently attending primary and secondary schools within the local area.

Our intensive 'study skills area' allows new students to settle in well to Kumon, as well as to learn essential study skills for life. Students move to the independent area when they have gained sufficient study skills.

There are a team of six, well-trained assistants at the centre, many of whom have studied the Kumon programmes themselves. Each assistant specialises in maths, English or early learner development.

Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.

My name is Roopinder Oberoi and I am the Instructor of the Kumon Northfields Study Centre.

After a long career in IT, I discovered Kumon whilst looking for supplementary education for my own children. I was impressed by the detailed attention given to each of my children, who needed very different approaches to support their learning, so much so that I became an Instructor myself!

Since opening the Northfields Study Centre, I have helped thousands of students to improve their maths and English ability, as well as their study skills.

I am often visited by former students who come into the centre to update me with their recent academic and personal successes, and to thank me for encouraging and believing in them. One family has been attending my centre for over nine years, with each younger sibling following in the successful steps of the elder, gaining entrance to the secondary school of their choice. This is a testament to the success of the Kumon Method of Learning and makes my job so rewarding.

To find out more about how I can help your child, please don’t hesitate to call me.
