About this centre

KUMON CONNECT available Ofsted Registered Childcare vouchers accepted In-Centre Class available

The centre, which first opened in April 2015, is embedded within the community and held in high regard by parents, schools and businesses within the Northwich, Winsford, Middlewich, Sandbach and surrounding communities.

Weekly, face-to-face classes run on a Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday, to empower children, young people and adults to achieve their potential in maths or English or both. Work is planned for each individual and set at just the right level, to enable students to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills through daily study. Study plans are tailored and adapted to meet the needs of each individual, through observation of their progress and fluency at each class, and as they progress through the levels. Our study programmes are individualised to enable each student to establish strong learning foundations and a positive attitude to study, self-belief and a 'can do approach'.

The Kumon maths and English Study Programmes offer what traditional tuition gives to your child and more. Kumon goes one step further by empowering each student with the skills to self-learn, manage their own learning, and enable them to tackle new or challenging work without reliance on a teacher. Our aim is to develop confident, autonomous students with a curiosity and love of learning.

We provide your child with a time slot to ensure maximum learning opportunities and a harmonious learning environment for all students. The centre takes the well-being of staff and students seriously, so we ask and require all persons entering the centre to have their temperature taken and to hand sanitise.

About the Instructor

Hello. My name is Amanda Rose and I have been the Instructor at the Northwich Study Centre since its inception in April 2015. My career in early years, childcare, education, adult and community learning spans 39 years across four different areas of the north west of England. I am passionate about enabling and empowering children, young people and adults to maximise their learning potential and self-belief.

When you enrol your child at Kumon Northwich, you join our family. The partnership between the Instructor and parents, the Instructor and child and the child and their parent is key, as is communication, trust and bucket-loads of praise. The pride my team and I have in our students’ progress and achievement grows with each step they take. Our students know that they reap the rewards for their hard work and efforts. Filling knowledge gaps, consigning knowledge to memory, building confidence, resilience, stamina, independence and the ability to tackle new and unfamiliar work are all part of the journey towards self-discovery. We never tire of hearing how Kumon has impacted the students’ view of learning and their perception of school.

As a Neuro Linguistic Programming Practitioner, I use NLP in the centre to support a growth mindset. The changes in our students’ body language and self-talk is visible, marked and magical. When a child’s demeanour changes as they realise they are able do something that they once found difficult or thought beyond their grasp they stand taller, their self and school profile changes, they emanate confidence in themselves and take on a can-do approach.

My team and I delight in empowering and equipping our students with the necessary knowledge, study skills and strategies to become curious, engaged, motivated learners who are able to be the very best that they can.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
