The Kumon Norwich Study Centre was established in 1999 and has a great history of developing students of all ages and abilities into independent, advanced learners through the Kumon Method of Learning.
Kumon Norwich’s youngest student so far was two-years-old when she joined, and their most advanced student began to self-learn calculus at the age of 13. Over the years the centre has proudly nurtured many completers of the Kumon Maths and English Programmes.
To nurture the skills required for the key transition to independence, early learners and newly enrolled students receive guided self-study from a member of the Kumon Norwich team. In this way, each child is developed individually, with the programme moulded to each student’s precise needs.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities to face unfamiliar work. With Kumon’s long-term focus, your child will be encouraged to take learning into their own hands, increasing their motivation to succeed – inciting an enthusiasm for new topics and challenges.
Please note: Saturday classes run from The Hewett Academy, Cecil Road, Norwich, NR1 2PL. All Kumon Norwich students attend class once per week.
My name is Sam Rudgley and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Norwich Study Centre.
My Kumon journey began in January 2015, when I joined the London North team as an Area Manager, working at the Kumon headquarters in London. Throughout my time in this role, I supported 25 study centres across North London and the East of England, providing operational and instructional guidance by working closely with Instructors and their students. Through this collaboration, it was only a matter of time until I was lured into running a centre of my own.
Before Kumon, my professional life has been dedicated to the teaching and development of others. I am a certified secondary school English teacher, having earned both my Bachelors and Masters in the Literary Arts. I have also spent five years in the publishing and language services sector, where my role as a manager always focused on discovering the potential of each member of my team. This ethos runs strong in the whole of the Norwich Study Centre.
Every child’s needs are unique and, therefore, each journey through the Kumon programmes is different. It is my duty, and my joy, to design the right path for you and your child – this is why I love what I do.
