About this centre

The Kumon Maths and English Programmes seek to pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, daily study.

Similar to other tuition providers, the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for university, employment and other aspects of adult life.

In addition to completing their Kumon maths and/or English worksheets every day at home, your child will also attend one of our classes once a week. They won’t attend the entire session, but will simply “drop-in” for about 30 minutes or an hour, depending on whether they are studying just one or both subjects. Students can start at the study centre from as young as four years old (as soon as they have started at school) and can stay with us throughout their GCSEs and beyond.

Following a free assessment, your child will begin at an individual starting point. Their progress through the Kumon programmes will then be tailored to meet their individual needs. Our classes are friendly, with an enthusiastic team of assistants and an excellent staff/student ratio.

Please note: Saturday's class runs from Buckholme Towers School, 18 Commercial Road, Poole, BH14 0JW.

My name is Alex Gorringe and I am the Instructor at the Poole East Study Centre.

I first learned about Kumon from friends of mine whose children were studying the maths programme and who were convinced that it was giving their children a massive advantage in school. Slightly sceptical, I enrolled my eldest daughter - within weeks my scepticism had completely vanished and I have been a massive fan of both the Kumon Maths and English Programmes ever since.

When I heard that there was a possibility I might be able to open up a Kumon Study Centre in Poole, I jumped at the chance. My goal is for every student in my centre not only to become fully proficient in maths and English, but also for them to develop a joy of learning and an ability to study independently, blossoming into adults who continue to learn and grow long after they have completed their formal education.

Please do get in contact for further information.
