About this centre

Welcome to the Sittingbourne Study Centre.

The centre opened in 2012 and has since then helped many students to pursue their potential and develop their ability.  Students build up confidence and other study skills needed for them to make progress in school and beyond.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Students mainly come from local schools in Sittingbourne but some come from neighbouring towns including Faversham, Sheerness and Queenborough. Current ages of students at the centre range from three to 16 years old; although students of all ages and abilities are welcome.

Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.

Alongside the Instructor, there are a team of friendly and approachable class assistants to help new students learn the class routine. They also closely monitor and encourage all students in developing their self-learning and correction skills.

Hello, my name is Yewande Adelusola and I am the Instructor at the Sittingbourne Study Centre.

I became involved with Kumon in 2004 when I enrolled my son on the programme. I have guided him through the years and he is developing into a strong, confident young man. I became enthusiastic about the Kumon Method when I saw the progress that he was making and the confidence it built in his school work. As an Instructor, I believe I can make a difference by helping other children also reach their potential.

As the parent of a Kumon student for a number of years before becoming an Instructor, I do feel that the experience has given me unique insights and added empathy.

My greatest reward is seeing children progressing through each level within the study programme. Students gain confidence not only in the areas of study but also outside the classroom. Having seen the impact Kumon has made on the children I have observed over the years, including my own sons, I know that I have been incredibly lucky and privileged in being a Kumon Instructor.

I am supported by a team of friendly, motivated assistants, many of whom have either studied Kumon or work in the field of education.

I look forward to welcoming you to the centre.
