About this centre

The study centre has been running since 2006.

Kumon is suitable for all ages and abilities, and students currently at the study centre range in age from three-and-a-half to 16 years old. The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

Classes run on at the centre twice a week and students usually spend approximately 30-45 minutes in the centre.

Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.

There are students who have been at the centre for over five years and almost every month there are new starters. Students work individually although there are plenty of assistants on hand to give guidance and encouragement to students as and when they may need it.

My name is Eliana Blankstone and I have been the Instructor at the Timperley Study Centre since March 2007. After many years as a primary teacher, I went back to university to study for a postgraduate certificate in specific learning difficulties. Following that, I taught children with dyslexia on a one-to-one basis for three years.

During that time, I enrolled my eldest son onto the Kumon programmes and my interest began! Since running my own centre, my two younger children have also benefitted from studying with Kumon. They are all very different in character and ability but what is true for them all is that they have excelled in their Kumon studies. Their concentration spans have increased and they are all more inclined to do their school work and tackle unfamiliar topics without any fuss. This has also translated into their school work with each of them reaching levels of achievement higher than expected.

Seeing the progress made by the students is what inspires me. Having positive feedback from them and their parents is greatly appreciated and I can understand and empathise with them through the inevitable peaks and troughs!

Kumon is a long term programme so it is never too early to start the programme! If you are interested, please give me a ring!
