About this centre

The study centre opened in 2003 and has contributed positively to the lives of hundreds of children. It is now a thriving and important part of the local community.

The centre is based in the St Ann's Library which is easily accessible with local transport and has ample parking in the vicinity. It is in a safe environment with quiet and comfortable surroundings and parents can use the facilities of the library when waiting.

Children of all ages and abilities study maths and English at the centre, and students currently range from four to 17 years old.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Both programmes complement the school curriculum.

The centre has a dedicated fully trained team of eight assistants to support and encourage every student to become the well-rounded, confident and capable individual they can be, equipped for life.

Children attend the centre on average for 30-45 minutes, up to twice a week.

Through daily study, both at the study centre and independently at home, Kumon goes further than traditional methods of tuition by ensuring students maintain a level of development every day.

Hello. My name is Bindu Shah and I have been an Instructor since 2000.

I was first inspired by the Kumon programmes when my children started on them in 1994. From seeing the benefits they received, I set my mind to it that I would become an Instructor once my children were more independent. I am very passionate about teaching and this enthusiasm to help many children was coupled with knowing the opportunities they would have to develop their full potential at their own pace, whether they were underperforming or just needed guidance to develop confidence to try new things.

Over the years, the most rewarding part of being an Instructor has been seeing students become independent, confident individuals and through my support their outlook to their future studies has been enhanced. Many have completed both the Kumon Maths and English Programmes, and many have gone on to universities, become graduates and are now working as professionals. The positive feedback you receive from students and parents makes it a rewarding experience.

My aim at my study centres is to support and provide a positive experience for all the students through their Kumon journey and to develop independent and confident learners who will make a positive contribution towards society.
