About this centre

Are you looking for maths and English tuition? Do you want your child to be more confident with their studies at school? Are they struggling or would you like them to be challenged more? Whatever the reason, the unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised daily study.

The programmes are suitable for all ages and abilities. The Widnes Study Centre is located at Ditton Community Centre, where you can be sure of a warm welcome and a comfortable environment for students and their parents/guardians.

Friendly and child-focussed assistants help the Instructor, Jennie Harrison, create a positive environment which supports student progress. All assistants are DBS checked.

Students attend class once or twice a week, allowing Jennie to support each child and observe them to ensure their individualised work is at the just-right level of difficulty. For parents and guardians, the large waiting area in reception has seating, toilets, a drinks machine and books to keep your other children occupied.

Hello, I'm Jennie Harrison, the Instructor at the Widnes Study Centre. I was delighted to open the Study Centre in October 2011. I was particularly excited by how the Kumon programmes enable students to work at their own pace and to the best of their abilities.

Previously a maths teacher and school governor (and parent), I’ve witnessed how some children find it difficult to keep up at school, so it's great to be able to ensure that my Kumon students make progress by thoroughly mastering one topic before moving on.

It’s also very rewarding to see them excited to face new challenges with their can-do attitude. The best part of my job is to see the students grow in confidence, ability and independence. I can see this not only by what they report is happening in school but also by observing them. It may just be in their eye contact or how they walk or hold their head but it definitely shows. Their academic achievements are evidenced but it is this blossoming that really gives me a buzz.
