About this centre

Welcome to the Kumon Worcester East Study Centre, opened in 1994.

Students of all ages and abilities attend the centre, including pre-school children, primary and secondary students. There are a team of 12 trained assistants, who help ensure that the class runs smoothly and efficiently.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.

As a Kumon student, your child will develop invaluable study skills and build in confidence as they become an independent learner. Through daily study of the unique Kumon worksheets, your child will strive towards studying above international standard for their age, enabling them to realise their potential both at school and beyond. In addition to studying an appropriate amount of work at home on a daily basis, your child will also attend the study centre up to twice a week.

Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.

My name is Chow Chan and I have been the Kumon Instructor at the Worcester East Study Centre for the past two years.

When I became a mother of two, the importance of my daughters’ education became a focus talking point. I researched what was the best programme to give them that extra help and support and I immediately enrolled them onto the Kumon Maths Programme having heard such great things about Kumon. I have now been a Kumon parent for four years and both my daughters are studying advanced maths, where before they had lacked confidence in the subject.

As my eldest daughter transferred to secondary school, she found maths very easy and has been put into the top set. With my youngest daughter, after her first year of studying Kumon, her school report read “your daughter is a maths magician.” This really motivated me to become a Kumon Instructor because Kumon aims to discover potential and provide children with skills they need to become more confident and independent self-learners.

When my students tell me that Kumon has really made a difference, I know that I have made a difference in their lives. What I love most is the individualised study of each child where work is set to their ability, regardless of their age.
