Welcome to the Ashford North Study Centre. We work with students of all ages and abilities from pre-schools, state and independent schools from Ashford and the surrounding areas. Students currently attending have been studying with us for many years and range in age from three years up to 18 years.
In the study hall, early-learners are supported to help them develop their skills. Similarly, newly-enrolled students are closely monitored and guided to ensure that they are capable of working independently and confidently. The Centre awards advanced students in recognition of their achievements.
At Kumon, we guide students to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and can face unfamiliar work. Kumon study does not follow any curriculum, as work is given based on individual ability regardless of age enabling students to revisit topics or advance far beyond school age materials confidently. These independent study skills help students to perform well in the 11+ and entrance exams and are essential for GSCEs, A-levels, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.
My name is Jyoti Rajani and I have been the Kumon Instructor since August 2008.
I have 21 years of Kumon experience in that I have supported my two children with their Kumon studies since 1997 and I am delighted to say that they have excelled at school and university. With this first-hand experience of being a Kumon parent, I decided to become a fully qualified Kumon Instructor and open the Kumon Ashford North Study Centre.
I have the exciting opportunity to work with children and parents who are totally committed to improving not only their educational experience, but also giving them the best possible chance to be happy and successful in life. It would be my privilege to support you and your family on their Kumon journey.
In class, I lead a team of highly-trained staff with DBS clearance. Each member of staff focusses on supporting the student's development academically and helps them to develop confidence and independent learning skills.
I believe that it is essential for parents to be involved in their child's education. I provide parents with regular feedback about their child's progress and long-term goals.
I look forward to welcoming you to my centre.

Kumon is a self-learning programme but each student receives regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
