About our centre
Thursday Sessions are held at the St. Peter’s Church Hall, Garlands Hall, Leatherhead, KT22 7EZ
The Kumon Ashtead and Leatherhead Study Centre welcomes students of all ages and abilities, encouraging students to grow in confidence and achieve their personal study goals and potentials through Kumon’s individualised maths and English program. We cultivate a friendly learning atmosphere with many students joining the centre through recommendations from friends and family.
All the students are regularly observed to ensure they are working independently and smoothly. Students attending the centre may find maths and/or English challenging at school and are looking to increase their ability. Most students range in ages from three to sixteen years old. My youngest ever student was 2 years and 3 months old. Each student approximately spends 30 minutes per subject at the centre, with the option to attend thrice a week. Sufficient work is given for a student to practice their skills daily.
All students are supported and encouraged to learn at their own pace. Students working at advanced levels are rewarded for their successes with certificates and medals at award ceremonies.
Parent meetings are held twice a year to discuss the child's progress and further study projections. Parents are kept well informed of any activities and news through a WhatsApp Group. Staff at the centre undertake regular training to ensure that their instructions are up-to-date and of a high standard.

About your Instructor
My name is Tulika Gaur, and I have been a highly passionate and dedicated Instructor since 2011.
I have worked with children as a tutor since 2007. I graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce (Honours) from Delhi University and am a part-qualified accountant from CIMA UK. This has enabled me to provide guidance in maths and English to students at more advanced levels.
Prior to becoming a Kumon instructor, I was a Kumon parent witnessing the first-hand benefits of how the programme helped my son and daughter. It helped both my children to go to the best universities in the UK, and they are now fulfilling their dream careers in finance and medicine. This encouraged me to become a Kumon Instructor so that I could help other children to achieve their maximum potential and turn into self-motivated and confident learners by completing the programme. I encourage my students to become independent learners and take responsibility for their own study goals and success. I also encourage the importance of learning from their own mistakes. I find it extremely rewarding seeing their sense of achievement when they understand a new topic or excel in an achievement test.
I look forward to discussing the programme with you and would be delighted to welcome your child at Kumon Ashtead and Leatherhead Study Centre.
Frequently Asked Questions
Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.
Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
