About our centre

Welcome to the Kumon Battersea Study Centre! Since opening our doors in 2010, we have been proud to support children of all ages and abilities in developing confidence, independence, and a genuine love of learning. Over the years, we have celebrated many wonderful success stories, from strong exam results and grammar school placements to students progressing to some of the UK’s most respected and sought-after universities.

Our personalised Kumon programmes in Maths and English are designed to help every child reach their full potential at a pace that is right for them. Each learning journey begins with a free assessment, followed by a tailored study plan, and our dedicated team is there every step of the way to guide, encourage, and celebrate every achievement.

Our approach builds strong academic foundations, positive study habits, and a love of learning that extends well beyond the classroom. The Centre provides a supportive and motivating environment that encourages focus, perseverance, and confidence. At Kumon, we are more than a tuition centre, we are a learning family. About your Instructor

Hi! I’m Muhammed, and my Kumon journey began over 17 years ago as a proud parent of three Kumon students. Watching how Kumon supported my children’s growth, not only academically, but also in their confidence, independence, and love of learning, inspired me to share that same experience with other families in our community. In 2026, I was honoured to be named a Kumon Elite Instructor, placing me among the top 50 Instructors across Kumon Europe. This recognition truly belongs to our wonderful team, as well as the incredible students and families who make our centre such a special place.

Becoming a Kumon Instructor has been one of the most meaningful and rewarding decisions of my life. There is nothing quite like seeing a child’s face light up when they realise what they are capable of achieving. I feel incredibly grateful to walk alongside my students and their families, offering support, encouragement, and plenty of moments to celebrate along the way.

At the Kumon Battersea Study Centre, we truly see ourselves as one big family. We care deeply about every child who walks through our doors, and we are passionate about helping them discover their strengths and unlock their full potential.

 

Frequently Asked Questions

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
