In the summer of 2015 we ran a competition, asking you to tell us where can reading take you? In October, we announced the winner of our competition, 11-year-old Saffie, who wowed the judges with her beautiful and incredibly intricate storyboard, in which she created different worlds you could travel to through the pages of a book.
Following the announcement we caught up with Saffie to find out how it feels to have won, and she couldn't be more excited!
Saffie said: "When I was in year two I went to see Matilda The Musical in Stratford and my aunt bought me the Matilda CD.
"I've been saving up ever since because I wanted to come and see it in London. But now I don't have to!
"Matilda is my favourite Roald Dahl book."
Saffie's mum set her the challenge of entering the competition over the summer holidays, knowing how much she wanted to see the award winning Royal Shakespeare Company's production; little did she know the time and dedication Saffie would put into it.
Mum, Ceri, said: "Since we saw the play in Stratford she's been nagging me to go to London, so when I saw the competition I thought that would be a great project for the summer, especially as we weren't going away this year.
"Saffie spent about three weeks in total on her storyboard, doing a little each day."
Saffie explained: "After my mum told me about the competition I then thought of eight different places I could go to. I did the pictures first and then I wrote about the places."
It's clear from the care and attention that has gone into her drawings, just how important getting the entry right was to Saffie.
Ceri said: "She's got a little sister as well and both are always singing from the Matilda CD which is often on in the car, so we're all really excited."
All that's left now is for Saffie to decide what to do with the money she'd been saving!
