About this centre
The Kumon Bromley Study Centre offers maths and English study programmes to children of all ages and abilities.
Similar to other tuition providers, the Kumon programmes focus on essential academic skills, but we go one step further by developing a child’s independent study skills, needed for GCSEs, A-levels, university, employment and all other aspects of adult life.
From the moment a student sits down in class we focus on concentration, stamina, pace, following instructions carefully and even posture; these are all aspects of learning that help a child reach their full potential.
We have had many students go on to do well in their 11+ and entrance exams having developed the complementary study skills at Kumon needed to achieve success.
In addition to studying an appropriate amount of work at home on a daily basis, your child can attend the study centre up to two times a week where you will be kept informed of their progress.
All the staff at the centre are fully trained and experienced in supporting children and background checks are in place to ensure their suitability to work with your child.
My name is Paul Webb and I am the Instructor at the Bromley Study Centre.
I have had the benefit of having three children attend Kumon over a period of some 16 years. All three excelled at school and through university and I believe that they achieved this success, which gave them not only study skills but also life skills, by having had the benefit of the Kumon Method of Learning. Through their success I was attracted to Kumon as I could see the commitment to each child’s individualised study with a strong emphasis in providing each child the relevant tools which they will need to achieve for themselves. Hence, I decided to become a Kumon Instructor which has subsequently enabled me to help other local children unlock their potential and experience success and achievement.
It is a delight to see children progress and realise their own potential. Feedback from parents is even more rewarding, especially to hear that their children are moving into higher levels and are ahead of their peer group at school which encourages and inspires even more confidence for the children to progress.
I welcome children regardless of age or ability.

Most Popular Questions
Kumon is a self-learning programme but each student receives regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
