About this centre
The centre was established in 2005, and was started by Instructor Yumna Joubeily, who still runs it to this day.
The current age range of students at the centre is from four to 15 years old, with pupils grouped according to ability, although Kumon caters for children of all ages and abilities.
Appropriate and relevant feedback is given to parents at every class session after the child has finished their work. As well as the Instructor at the centre, there are ten assistants that are trained to give students the best support in their learning and are at each table in the study centre.
The centre offers exceptional family friendly, professional service, meeting the needs of each child and with emphasis on academic achievement for each individual.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.
My name is Yumna Joubeily. I have over ten years of Kumon experience; running my own centre for eight years as an Instructor and working for two years supporting another centre in the area.
I am proud to be the longest serving Instructor in the area and believe that this directly contributes to the success of the centre. This long experience enables me to help my students in achieving the most from their studies. This experience is further enhanced by the backing and support from Kumon head office. This is done by attending meetings and workshops.
One of the reasons that I became an Instructor was that the programme and ethos interested me greatly. I am still impressed now by this programme and the results it can produce and my students are an inspiration.
As a mother of three, I have firm and high standards in education for my children and have directly witnessed the Kumon Method helping them achieve success at their chosen schools.
I enjoy seeing my students grow from strength to strength and conquer difficulties they encounter. I am proud to say that I have helped several children to complete the English and maths study programmes, culminating in their graduation.

Most Popular Questions
Kumon is a self-learning programme but each student receives regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
