About our centre

We are offering Free Registration to all new students joining the centre until 28 February 2026.

The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes enable children of any age and ability to build strong learning foundations. Our programmes not only help children become confident learners, but go beyond traditional maths or English tuition by equipping them with the skills to learn independently.

Self-learning is an essential skill as children progress through their education and beyond, fostering independence and the ability to advance without reliance on a teacher. Our study programmes offer an economical way to equip your child with the skills they need to build a bright future.

Following an initial assessment, your child will begin an individualised study programme with work set at just the right level. They complete daily worksheets that build skills and fluency in small, manageable steps, alongside attending tuition groups at their local study centre up to twice a week. An Instructor closely monitors and guides your child’s learning to ensure the work remains appropriately challenging.

Kumon study does not follow a specific curriculum, and work is set regardless of age. This allows children to revisit topics or advance well beyond school material without restriction.

Mehwish Qureshi

About your Instructor

Hi, my name is Mehwish, and I am the Kumon Instructor at Hammersmith study centre. I am an experienced education professional with over ten years of experience working across all primary school year groups, and I have also previously worked within Kumon, giving me a strong understanding of the programme and its teaching methods.

My own children have studied at Kumon, which has further strengthened my belief in the effectiveness of the Kumon approach. The Kumon Method is unique in that it does not restrict children by school year or age. Instead, work is tailored to each child’s individual ability, allowing them the time to achieve full mastery of concepts and to progress beyond what is taught in school.

Kumon supports not only academic development but also the development of essential skills such as concentration, confidence, and independence. I have experience supporting children with special educational needs and am skilled at adapting my approach to meet individual learning needs with patience and consistency.

I am organised, reliable, and passionate about helping children build confidence and progress independently at their own pace, in line with the Kumon philosophy.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
