About this centre

In-Centre Class available KUMON CONNECT available For pupils of this school
The Kumon maths and English Study Programmes aim to bring out the best in every child, regardless of age or ability, and help them to reach their potential and foster a love of learning. Through individualised programmes with work set at just the right level, your child will be able to build strong learning foundations, not only developing ability in maths and English but transferable skills that will help them achieve across all subjects.

Children learn through example questions in our worksheets along with Instructor guidance. This method of learning offers so much more than traditional tuition: it nurtures your child’s independence, developing strong self-learning skills to give them the tools to help them excel in the future. Because Kumon does not follow the school curriculum and work is set according to ability, irrespective of age, our programmes allow learners both to fill in any missing gaps in their study foundations as well as the opportunity to work ahead of their school grade level. Your local Instructor will assess your child to determine at what point in the programme they should begin their Kumon study, then through daily work coupled with up to twice weekly study centre visits, they will build both self-confidence and crucial skills in small manageable steps.

About the Instructor

Harris Chafford Hundred - Jo Paic
Hello, my name is Jo Paic, I am the Instructor for the Kumon Harris Chafford Hundred Study Centre.

Following on from attending an international school in France and a degree in European Politics with French and Spanish at university in the UK, I have enjoyed a very diverse career that has allowed me travel and work across the world. I have worked for Multi-national organisations in Financial services as well working in Project and Business Management. Most recently, I have been working for a SEN charity supporting children with learning differences as well as working at a Kumon Centre.

My youngest son joined the Kumon maths programme when in reception and he has benefited hugely from the Kumon programme whilst at primary school and now at senior school. I have seen directly how Kumon has built up his confidence, strengthened his mental maths ability and his independent approach to learning.

As a parent, having supported my son with his Kumon journey over the past few years, I have an excellent understanding how Kumon can potentially benefit all children. I have chosen to become a Kumon Instructor as I have seen first-hand the benefits of what the Kumon programme can offer, and I believe in its strong philosophy of developing every individual’s ability to the maximum.

At Kumon Harris Chafford Hundred, my aim is to ensure that every student leaves our centre happy and with a feeling of 'I did it!'. It is very important to me that I work in partnership with parents to ensure that their child succeeds and that they are reaching their full potential.

I am very proud to be able to start working with your child and you to be able to support them on their own Kumon journey. Building a strong relationship through regular communication between myself, my students and you their parents will be a key factor in their success.

I am always available to answer any questions and can be reached via email, phone or whatsapp.

I look forward to welcoming you and your child to our centre!

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
