The Kumon maths and English Study Programmes offer what traditional tuition gives to your child and more. Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without reliance on a teacher. Our aim is to help any child of any ability to progress and develop a curiosity and love for learning.

Your local Instructor will set work for your child at just the right level, enabling them to build confidence in their abilities and progress their maths and English skills in small, manageable steps through daily study. They will visit their local study centre up to twice a week for sessions with their Instructor. This allows the Instructor to tailor and adapt each child’s study plan to their abilities, through observing their progress and fluency at each level. Our study programmes are individualised to each child to help them establish strong learning foundations and a positive learning experience, to build skills and confidence for their future.

About the Instructor

Leicester, Aylestone - Faizal Rashid Sayani
My name is Faizal Sayani. I am the Instructor at the Leicester, Aylestone Centre.

After receiving my Master of Science (MSc) In Business Computing, I spent over 20 years working in IT as a Quality Assurance Manager.

I currently coach my son's U10 football team and enjoy working with children in a fun, supportive, and skill-building environment.

I became an Instructor after seeing the value Kumon added to my children's development. It allowed me to understand how important it is for each child to receive personalised support.

I believe that every child has the potential to succeed when given the right tools and support. My approach emphasizes self-learning, where students build confidence by mastering each step at their own pace. I aim to nurture happy, confident self learners who can ultimately operate beyond school grade.

I am dedicated to providing personalized attention and ongoing support to each of my students and their families. Communication and collaboration with parents are key to ensuring that we work together to meet the individual needs of every child.

We look forward to working with you and your children to help maximise your children's development.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
