Kumon boosts Hampshire student's confidence at school

"Kumon has given me the confidence to put my hand up in class."

Following a successful two-week Free Trial last year, 11-year-old Laura enrolled onto the maths and English programmes at the Kumon Waterlooville Study Centre.

Having watched their eldest daughter thrive with Kumon, Laura's parents wished for her to experience the same benefits and further wanted to give her the best chance of achieving good results in her GCSEs and A-levels.

After almost a year of study, Laura is making great progress on the programmes and is nurturing key work skills, which are helping her succeed at school and beyond.

Laura said: "I remember starting out at Kumon; I struggled with mental calculations and with my spelling. Now, I have been taught different techniques in maths and my mental arithmetic has improved - this has given me the confidence to put my hand up and contribute in class.

"I enjoy working through the different topics at Kumon and when my hard work gets recognised by my Instructor and teachers at school."

Laura's mum, Michelle, is extremely pleased with Laura's progress thus far, noting a positive change in her attitude to learning and study, as well as academic improvement: "Albeit she has only been in Kumon since last November, we can see obvious results at school and in her enthusiasm. Laura is always ready and motivated to work, and understands why it is so important.

"At a recent parents' evening, Laura's maths teacher shared how her self-belief and interest has developed so much that he now has to ask Laura to put her hand down and let her classmates answer his questions!"

We love sharing in the growth of our students and wish Laura well as she continues developing and learning with Kumon.
