About this centre

KUMON CONNECT available In-Centre Class available

Kumon study aims to ensure that every child develops a love for learning. We offer maths and English programmes to help students of any age and ability to progress their skills and build key foundations for learning. Traditional maths and English tuition helps students progress, but Kumon goes one step further by helping each child develop self-learning skills, enabling them to tackle challenging work without relying on a teacher.

Students complete daily worksheet study, allowing them to gradually develop in ability and fluency over time, progressing in small steps as they build confidence. They also visit their local study centre up to twice a week for guidance from their Instructor. Your child’s Kumon Instructor will set work at their 'just right' level to challenge and keep them engaged, regardless of age or school year. This means that they can strengthen key skills, or progress beyond their school grade level without restriction. Kumon offers a cost-effective and convenient way to help your child build strong English and maths skills for a successful future.

About the Instructor

Thame - Anita Aggarwal
Hello, I’m Anita Aggarwal, the Instructor at the Kumon Thame Study Centre.

I am a qualified primary school teacher and have been working to educate children for over 15 years. I am always pushing for excellence in education and have supplemented my practical classroom experience with further study in the educational field - I hold a Master’s in Education and am currently pursuing a Professional Doctorate in Education.

I have seen how curricular demands often mean that schools find it challenging to focus on the development of essential study habits and work skills in children. These are imperative to your child’s academic success and set the foundation that supports your child throughout their academic journey.

The Kumon Method addresses these gaps and strongly supports the development of self learning skills. Each study programme is tailored to the needs of your child and allows them to take as long as they need to fully master each topic.

Your child will work at their own pace in small, manageable steps, so that each topic is fully understood before moving onto the next worksheet or level. This focused approach allows your child’s confidence to develop and flourish as they progress through the programmes. The Kumon journey is about your child, parent and instructor working together to ensure success.

Thanks for reading so far – it is clear you are interested in developing your child and I look forward to partnering with you in helping them achieve success through Kumon!

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
