About our centre

The Kumon maths and English study programmes provide an opportunity to understand and discover a child’s potential and develop their ability to the maximum. Kumon offers an ability-based programme which caters to all age groups, helping to develop confidence, independence and discipline. The development of these skills helps children to reach Kumon’s goal of  ‘self-learning’, this is a fundamental skill as it will help them to progress without becoming reliant on a teacher. This is the core of Kumon where we believe the worksheet is where the child should learn from and the Instructors job is to facilitate this.

The process begins with a diagnostic test where we discover the potential of the individual which then allows us to find out what work would have them working at their personal just right level. They will be completing daily worksheets which will be helping them to take small steps in developing their skills, these will be done in class and at home. The worksheets will be checked over by the Instructor to ensure the child is progressing, they will also observe how the child works in the classroom to ensure they are developing their skills.

Mr Muhammad Abdul

About your Instructor

Hi, my name is Muhammad Abdul and I am the Instructor at Kumon Waddon study centre.

I began my Kumon journey as a child when my parents decided to enrol me and my siblings into the programme. I personally enjoyed Kumon as it helped me to reach a sense of self-fulfilment as I was excelling past my age group at school and was achieving amazing grades. I then also worked as a class assistant at Kumon so was able to see how Kumon works for students from a completely different perspective showing how the programme works for all different students with different learning skills.

I have now decided to use the skills I gained from Kumon to help pay back to the community and help the future generations achieve greater levels of success by helping to develop not only maths and English skills but also their study skills, independence and confidence in their abilities that Kumon helps to develop.

I would love to welcome you to my centre which aims to help each individual develop their academic ability and reach their maximum potential.

Frequently Asked Questions

Both, and every child in between. This is because of our individualised approach to education, which always asks the question: "What is best for this individual child?" Following a diagnostic test, a study plan is set to develop the ability of the child and to progress them beyond the Kumon International Standard (an international approximation of their school level) regardless of their starting point. Kumon welcomes students with special educational needs, gifted and talented children, and all those who believe they can achieve more and fulfil their potential.

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
