The Kumon Willesden Green Study Centre reopened in 2022 and we are pleased to be back, bringing the Kumon Maths and English Programmes to local children. Our students come from many of the local primary and secondary schools in the Willesden, Harlesden, Kensal Rise areas, with some coming from even further afield.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child, helping them develop into confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Students enjoy the atmosphere at the centre, finding it motivating and encouraging.

Unlike traditional tuition providers, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands, under the guidance of their Kumon Instructor who provides support and encouragement as the children develop their own independent learning strategies. Here at the Kumon Willesden Green Study Centre, we prove that this method works every day, with our students consistently achieving their academic goals.

This study centre is proud to offer KUMON CONNECT. Click here to find out more.

About the Instructor

My name is Ahmed Jabbar and, with my background in IT, recruitment and sales, my journey to become a Kumon Instructor was far from traditional! Instead, I was moved to open the Kumon Willesden Green Study Centre because of my deep belief in the transformative power of the Kumon Method – I witnessed first-hand the remarkable impact of Kumon as my own children studied with it, and now I work to provide other children with the same opportunities for success.

Over the course of 12 years, I enrolled all four of my children in Kumon, observing as they flourished in maths and English. Notably, my eldest two children even sat their GCSE Maths exams two years early, attaining the highest grades—a testament to the efficacy of the Kumon Method.

Driven by a desire to pay forward the invaluable support and guidance my family received from Kumon, I transitioned from parent to Instructor, eager to share my newfound passion for learning with others. Drawing upon my wide professional background, I approach each day with a commitment to excellence, tailoring the assigned worksheets to meet the individual needs of every student under my care.

As a father of four, I understand the importance of education in shaping the future of our youth. It is this understanding, coupled with my unwavering belief in the Kumon Method, that fuels my dedication to nurturing academic excellence and fostering a love for learning among my students. At the Kumon Willesden Green Study Centre, I am not merely an instructor; I am a mentor, a coach, and a source of inspiration for each student who walks through my doors.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
