The centre was established in 2006.

The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study. Kumon should not be considered a traditional tuition provider as, rather than ‘teaching’ students, we encourage them to become independent learners who feel confident in their own abilities and able to face unfamiliar work.

Weekly visits to the centre are an important focal point of your child’s Kumon programme, with students spending 20-30 minutes in class once or twice a week. The early start on Thursdays is for pre-school students and students who are home-schooled and would like to fit Kumon into their timetable. Many of the students come to the centre via personal recommendation, and there are students coming from across the borough of Bromley and further afield.

Students currently range from pre-schoolers to A-level students and the centre welcomes children of all ages and abilities, whether they require further support to succeed academically or are seeking an additional challenge so they can fulfil their potential.

The centre has a committed and hard-working team of eight assistants who work alongside the Instructor.

Hello, my name is Marie Murphy.

I am a dyslexia-trained teacher with many years of experience teaching children of all abilities, teaching and assessing children within primary school and privately. One of the most important things I found when teaching dyslexic children or adults is the individual lesson plan each child or adult has. Even when you have a number of dyslexic students they all have different needs and a one-size-fits-all definitely does not apply.

This is what attracted me so much to the Kumon Method, that I could give all students the opportunity to have an individual programme, enabling each child to reach his or her full potential. For some students this means the opportunity to have repetition or practice for as long as necessary and for others it means they can excel and get ahead in maths or English. It is an absolute privilege to be in a position to give so many children this opportunity of Kumon from pre-school to A-level and beyond.

Not only are students improving their academic ability in my study centre but they are also learning the skills of concentration and independent working. It is very rewarding to see shy and worried children develop into confident and able students.

I would be delighted to welcome you to my centre.
