The Kumon Coventry Potters Green Study Centre located in Moathouse Leisure Centre, CV2, Coventry and led by Instructor Minju Rathy and her team of  classroom assistants.

The Kumon Maths and English Study Programmes enable children of any age and ability to build a strong learning foundation. The programmes will not only help your child to become a confident learner, but they go one step further by equipping them with the skills to learn for themselves. The study programmes are tailored to transform your child into an independent self-learner at a very young age.

Your child’s Kumon journey starts with an initial assessment. Based on this assessment the Instructor will set an individualised study programme with work set at just the right level. The Instructor will monitor and guide your child’s learning development to ensure work remains challenging and exciting. Instructor-led classes are conducted in person and online over Zoom sessions. Kumon study does not follow any curriculum and work is set regardless of age, enabling children to revisit topics or advance far beyond school material without restriction.

Since maths and English are the basis of science and language studies, the strong foundations laid by Kumon in maths and English help children perform very well in exams like the 11+, GCSEs, SATs exams.

About the Instructor

I am Minju, the Instructor of Kumon Coventry Potters Green Study Centre.

After graduating with a commerce degree, I decided to continue with my studies and complete a Masters in Commerce (M.Com) alongside a MBA in Finance and Marketing (university rank holder).

I began my career as a graduate marketing trainee, later working as university lecturer and within the finance in the UK. However, teaching is my passion and working with children has always made me feel that I am doing something great for the society.
Like every Kumon child, I too have a Kumon journey to share. I have worked at Kumon Coventry East Study Centre for 10 years. I have enjoyed every job, role, and responsibility that has come as part of my work.

As a Kumon parent, both my children joined Kumon when they were three years old. My son is now 12 years old, he is a Kumon English Completer and he is currently studying the maths programme too. I have witnessed first-hand the transformation in his academic subjects thanks to Kumon. Kumon has not only helped him to perform in school but also enabled him to get good scores on 11+ exam. My daughter is seven years old and she is currently studying both the maths and English programmes.

I have come across hundreds of children, each of them is unique and capable, but they all need a platform like Kumon to become independent self-learners and develop confidence in their capabilities.

I am really proud to be entrusted to run the Kumon Coventry Potters Green Study Centre and I sincerely look forward to guiding and nurturing children at my centre to be successful in their academic endeavours both in school and beyond.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
