About this centre
Welcome to the Kumon Eastbourne Study Centre.
The unique Kumon Maths and English Programmes pursue the potential of each child by developing confident, independent learners through individualised, advanced study.
The centre welcomes students of all ages with current students ranging from pre-schoolers to GCSE students. The majority of students attend the surrounding primary and secondary schools and come to the centre with varying abilities.
The Instructor Anu is supported by a committed team of assistants in providing the necessary support to the students and enabling the smooth running of class. There is also a wide variety of reading books and literature at hand for the students to enjoy and help foster a love of reading.
Through daily practice and perseverance, the students reach a higher attainment in maths and/or English and develop the necessary skills for lifelong learning, becoming confident, self-reliant learners.
Unlike the process of a traditional tuition provider, Kumon encourages students to take their learning into their own hands. The role of the Kumon Instructor is to provide guidance, support and encouragement, allowing the student to develop their own independent learning strategies.
Hello, my name is Anupama Verma and I am the Instructor at the Kumon Eastbourne Study Centre.
Over the last couple of years, I have volunteered at my children’s school helping students read. I particularly enjoyed listening to the young readers and realised the enormous benefits of daily reading, a habit this school actively practises. This experience rekindled my passion for working with children.
I have always known about the Kumon programme but experienced it first-hand when I enrolled my youngest son onto the programme last year. This has given me a unique insight into the way the programme works and I have witnessed the growth in my child’s confidence, ability and concentration span. This is what inspired me to take the opportunity to become a Kumon Instructor and have a rewarding career helping young people achieve great success.
I am a firm believer that the best favour you can bestow upon your child is to provide them with a solid academic foundation. When this is done using the Kumon Method, it equips the child not only with knowledge and independent learning skills, but also empowers them for the future, as they possess the skills they need to succeed.
I believe through Kumon’s individualised study approach, I can help all of my students achieve their very best.

Most Popular Questions
Kumon is a self-learning programme but each student receives regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.
Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.
Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.
As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.
As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
