The Kumon Gerrards Cross Study Centre offers Kumon's unique, worksheet-based, individualised maths and English study programmes. We help children to excel, regardless of age or ability and have students who come to us from both state and private schools in the local area. Our highly dedicated and well-trained team works with children as young as three years old, who are still learning to hold a pencil correctly, through to students who are preparing for their GCSEs. The strong foundation laid by the Kumon programmes have been shown to help children perform well in their exams, such as SATs, 11 + and GCSEs. Kumon study pursues the potential of each child by developing them into confident, independent learners.

We start with an initial assessment of the child's abilities and, based on this evaluation, the Instructor will curate a dedicated study programme for them. This ensures that your child will be studying at their ‘just right’ level to ensure they are comfortable learning and consolidating the foundations in small, manageable steps. The Instructor will monitor and guide the child's learning development to ensure the work remains challenging as your child develops.

Children study in a warm and friendly environment, with a high staff-to-student ratio, enabling us to observe and give each child the guidance they need to bring out the best in them.

About the Instructor

As a Kumon Instructor, I have had the pleasure of working with many children, watching them grow in confidence and academic ability. I love how the Kumon programmes allow me to treat each student as an individual, capable of progressing at their own pace and, as a Kumon parent myself, I have observed the rapid progress and positive change in attitude towards learning that my own son made through Kumon study.

At my centre, we work with students of all abilities – some may be struggling in school, while others may need to be challenged. Helping my students to achieve their full potential is very rewarding, and I like to keep in regular contact with parents/carers to keep them informed of their child's progress as I believe they play an essential role in their child's study. I always welcome parents/carers to contact me outside of class by email or telephone to discuss their child's progress.

Please contact me to learn more about our centre, or make an appointment for a free assessment and to explore how Kumon can fulfil your expectations for your child's learning development. I very much look forward to supporting your children on their Kumon journey.

Popular Questions

Kumon is a self-learning programme with each student receiving regular support from their Instructor. The carefully developed worksheets teach students how to find the answer for themselves, whilst their Instructor offers guidance when necessary. The key role of each Kumon Instructor is to observe their students working, either in the centre or their online class, making sure that work is set at the right level and that they are developing at the right pace.

Students can start learning with Kumon from age two upwards. We currently have students as young as two years old studying with us, ranging all the way up to those about to go to university; Kumon helps children of any age and any ability. The sooner children begin, the earlier they can start developing skills to gain the greatest cumulative benefit; as soon as you feel your family is ready to make the commitment to long-term study, Kumon will be ready to help you achieve your goal.

Kumon offers much more than tutoring and differs from traditional teaching in the classroom. Rather than preparing children for a particular test or assessment, Kumon empowers students to learn for themselves, through individualised instruction and carefully developed worksheets.

As well as developing key skills in maths and English, each Kumon student will work towards building their independent learning skills and confidence in their own abilities. This means that a Kumon student will not be dependent on – or limited by – the skills and knowledge of others.

As a global programme, Kumon does not follow a school curriculum, but rather is complementary to curricula across the world. The primary aim of the Kumon Method is to develop independent learning skills. These independent learning skills enhance the students’ performance right across the school curriculum. Kumon operates at exactly the right level for each student – regardless of their age – ensuring that work set extends and develops their skills, confidence and ability.
